| ~ Ruby (aka Navy) revealing her true nature to Steven. |
Navy Ruby, Ruby or Navy (to Steven), is a Homeworld Gem, and an antagonist in the fourth season of Steven Universe. She made her debut in "Hit the Diamond". She and the other Ruby troops were sent to Earth by Yellow Diamond to locate Jasper. She is currently piloting the Roaming Eye ship after stealing it back from the Crystal Gems in "Room for Ruby" where she served as that episode's main antagonist. Overall, Navy and the rest of the Ruby Squad served as the secondary antagonists of Season 3.
She is voiced by Charlyne Yi, who also voiced the other Rubies in the same show.
Her Evil Ranking
Her Villainous Deeds
- Although she claims that the other Rubies are mean to her, this was probably a lie given her skills at deceiving and manipulating others.
- She and the other Rubies arrive on Earth to find Jasper, and they fuse together to try and kill the Crystal Gems after playing a game of baseball.
- She and the other Rubies fuse again in order to fight the Crystal Gems.
- After crash-landing on Earth, she acts innocently to Steven and Garnet in order to trick them as part of her plan to reclaim the Roaming Eye ship, putting up an exaggerated version of her usual innocent personality which fools everyone except for Lapis.
- She eventually reveals her true nature by showing Steven, Peridot, and Lapis how the Roaming Eye ship works, and has Steven push a button that would send the three of them falling out of the ship.
- She gleefully states to Steven, Peridot and Lapis that the reason for tricking them was so she could see the look on their faces when she betrayed them, and casually drops the three of them out of the ship and into the ocean.
- She faces no comeuppance for her crimes, becoming a Karma Houdini.
Why Doesn't She Pass the Baseline?
- Her worst act of dropping Steven, Peridot and Lapis into the ocean amounts to generic "kill-the-heroes" villainy, making her bog-standard. Even if she somehow passed the baseline, she still massively fails the heinous standards compared to Jasper, Lapis, Spinel, and the Diamonds.
- She has some comedic moments that reduce her heinousness, most notably her light-hearted and over-exaggerated innocent personality and her sweet facade that she puts up while manipulating Steven into trusting her.
- She is somewhat tragic to a degree, due to the Gems tricking her and the rest of the Ruby Squad three times even though she never tried to hurt anyone and blasting them into space, making her actions of throwing Steven, Peridot and Lapis off her ship and into the ocean after tricking them understandable even if it was needlessly cruel.
